Registered NDIS provider · NSW

Positive behaviour support for all ages.

We work with participants, their families and their support teams to understand behaviour, reduce barriers, and build everyday quality of life.

01About us

Small practice. Real advocacy.

Steps is a practitioner-led behaviour support practice, registered with the NDIS and working across the Greater Sydney region. Our clinical roots are in mental health, and that depth shows up in every assessment, plan and conversation.

We genuinely want the people we support to succeed, and we'll advocate for them to get there, even when that means having the uncomfortable conversations.

Maeve Nash

Director · Behaviour Support Practitioner

I'm a registered behaviour support practitioner and director at Steps.

I came into behaviour support after 15 years in complex mental health care. I have a Master of Nursing (Mental Health), and I've held roles as a clinical nurse educator at Justice Health's Forensic Hospital and a clinical nurse consultant for complex care at Royal North Shore Hospital.

As a behaviour support practitioner, I work with children, young people and adults, including people with intellectual disability, autism, psychosocial disability and complex mental health needs, and people with restrictive practices in place.

02Our services

Specialist positive behaviour support.

Behaviour support is for people whose behaviour is getting in the way of the life they want, or putting themselves or others at risk. We work out what's driving the behaviour, then build practical strategies with the people around them, so support becomes safer, more consistent and less restrictive.

We work with children, young people and adults with NDIS funding for specialist behaviour support, and with the families, carers and teams who support them.

How it works

  1. Assessment

We spend time with the person and the people who know them best, gather information and complete a Functional Behaviour Assessment to understand why the behaviour happens.

  2. Behaviour support plan

A practical plan built from the assessment: strategies, skill-building and, where restrictive practices are in place, a clear pathway to reduce them.

  3. Implementation

Training and coaching for families, support workers and teams, so the plan works in everyday life and not just on paper.

  4. Review

We track progress, adjust what isn't working, meet our NDIS Commission reporting obligations and update the plan as things change.
